How innovative waste treatment can release new energies and actively help to protect the environment and the natural world.
Ecologically responsible behaviour represents one of the key challenges of the 21st century. The energy industry in particular faces far-reaching changes. New raw materials and renewable technologies are becoming increasingly important - one such material is waste. By exploiting the material and energy potential it harbours, household and commercial waste is an important resource for the future.
MVV Umwelt GmbH has been one of the pioneers of this visionary concept for around 50 years now. Within the MVV Energie Group, MVV Umwelt pools the core competencies in terms of decentralised energy generation from household and industrial waste, as well as from biomass.
MVV Umwelt has a clear strategic focus. We currently operate energy from waste plants and biomass power plants at four locations in Germany. With an annual capacity of around 1.4 million tonnes, we are Germany's third-largest operator in this sector. Alongside industrial waste, we also dispose of the non-recyclable waste for 19 district authorities, with a combined total of around four million inhabitants. Our aim is to further expand our leading position in this promising business field. In the past ten years alone, we have invested more than Euro 600 million to achieve this objective.
Whether our task involves the progressive management of waste as a resource on behalf of local government or businesses, or generating CO2-neutral electricity from biomass, we always focus on solutions with a sustainable impact. This not only generates immediate benefits for our customers, but also helps make sure that our environment is protected for future generations.
Waste as a resource of the future.
